GET THE RIGHT NAIL ART ACCESSORIES

To start in nail art, it is better to have a few accessories to your credit that will facilitate the application. As a priority you need: masking tape, scissors, a dotting tool, thin strips of various shapes and patterns, as well as a fine brush to polish your creations.

PREPARE YOUR HANDS FOR NAIL ART

Before embarking on elaborate nail art, always prepare your hands. To do this, remember to file your nails harmoniously, but also to apply a base coat beforehand to protect the nail from multiple creations.

We recommend that you use the adequate manicure and pedicure set to take care of your nails before applying any kind of decoration.

You may also prefer strengthening treatments which will protect your nails in the long term.

RESPECT THE PAUSE TIME BETWEEN COATS OF VARNISH

The worst mistake for a nail art initiate: not respecting the break time. It is indeed necessary to wait scrupulously until the nail polish is completely dry before applying, for example, the masking tape. A fault that can prove to be fatal since if the nail polish is not yet dry, the masking tape will take away all the work done in its path.

BLOCK A NAIL ART TIME RANGE IN YOUR AGENDA

Do your nail art in half an hour? Rather daring in reality. Bear in mind that this practice requires much more time than a traditional manicure, especially when you are just starting out. In this case, remember to block a sufficient time slot without having to go about ten other occupations 20 minutes later.

HAVE EVERY ELEMENT AT YOUR FINGERTIPS

It may seem obvious, however, when one accessory is missing, the entire manicure is at risk of crumbling. To do this, check that all the elements you need for this nail art are available, or near you!

PREPARE YOUR NAIL ART STRIPS UPSTREAM

If you intend to use masking tape for your nail art, it is recommended that you cut off the strips used afterwards. In fact, when you put the nail polish on your hands, it will be much more difficult to juggle your scissors to harmoniously cut the necessary strips.

DO NOT STICK YOUR MASKING TAPE TO THE EXCESS

A classic error, but not without consequences: a masking tape applied too heavily on a first coat of nail polish. It is in fact preferable to apply the masking tape delicately to extract it quickly and easily afterwards. In this, it is possible to vary the creations on several layers.

REMOVE YOUR MASKING TAPE WITH TWEEZERS

For convenience, it is recommended to remove the masking tape using tweezers. The idea: to leave a slight rim of masking tape visible to remove it with a snap with the tweezers. Thus, the possible lower layer of nail polish is not damaged and the pattern achieved much sharper than with a very delicate removal.

BET ON YOUR GESTUAL RATHER THAN THAT OF A NAIL ART TUTORIAL

Left handed or right handed, the way of doing things is not the same. If you are creating your first nail art by carefully following the application steps in a video tutorial, always prefer your gestures. In fact, the posture must suit you as well as the application gestures to obtain a graceful nail art. So always adapt the application according to your own gestures and not that of the model.

INVITE A FRIEND TO YOUR NAIL ART SESSION

When you’re new to nail art, it’s best to find a sidekick. This allows you to be helped when applying nail polish, and even to delegate this often tedious task. And then, between friends, beginners or experienced, the pleasure is shared!
