Faux fur coats have always been around somewhere on the fashion peripherals, but this season they’re going mainstream.
At fashion week, the front row crowd stood out in their faux fur coats and jackets. Oversized, bright or print, it was all about making a cosy and colourful statement.
Eleanora Carisi gave us outerwear envy in her furry pink ladies trench coat in Paris at the Valentino show, but it’s really the Saint Laurent heart jacket that we saw on the catwalk that has been The One this fashion month.
Don’t think you can pull off faux fur? You definitely can. This isn’t just a cover-up for extroverts and glamazons. Just throw a black or brown faux fur jacket to throw on over mom-ish fit jeans at the weekend with a pair of metallic ankle boots.
Shrimps is the go-to designer label for faux fur but if your purse strings won’t stretch that far, the high street has a generous and varied offering, from prints at Zara and pastels at Warehouse.
We’re loving the block colour offering — particularly Florence Bridge and Bandits. Just wear over your usual all black uniform for a spruced up wintery look.
Leopard print used to be a statement, but is now more of a neutral. The easiest way to wear the trend is undeniably the coat. It’s more polished than Pat Butcher so wear over a silky slip dress for some classiness.
